I pay the bills with painting sales and through mentoring my Hein Atelier students. This means that I can't do this podcast forever unless I can hand the work load over to someone else. Oliver Sin graduated from Academy of Art University in Illustration dept in 1996 and he has been teaching at Academy of Art University since year 2001. Sin was born in Hong Kong and has been living in San Francisco since 1990, he began working as a computer games concept artist upon graduating and has more than four years of experience at world-renowned computer games companies, such as Lucas Arts and 3DO. Sin has valuable knowledge and experience in many aspects as 2D animator, concept designer, background and layout artist and he has an excellent breadth of drawing and traditional animation skills and conception art skills. Sin is deeply inspired by fine artists Nicolai Fechin, John Sargent and Jose Roko, among others. Sin employs the influences of renowned artists and mentors Zhao Ming Wu and Henry Yan. The results are works of precise composition and evocative color harmonies in figurative portraits.

Allie was born and raised in
Centerville, Utah where she grew up watching her dad, Michael Hadley paint and sell his work in Jackson, WY. Many family vacations were spent driving to Jackson Hole where the smell of oil paint and wool blankets filled the air as her family followed the Snake River west. This played a large role in motivating Allie to pursue art at an early age.
Allie received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and studied several years back under nationally recognized artists: Jill Carver, G. Russell Case and Kathryn Stats. “Learning from these seasoned artists in a plein air setting was inspiring. My ability to see the outdoors and deconstruct its critical elements to formulate a well-planned painting increased tenfold." Most recently, Allie is studying under renowned landscape painter, Scott Christensen. “Thinking creatively and allowing time for ideas and themes to develop are key points for me in this ongoing education. I feel my art has infinite potential and look forward to deliberate exploration to foster new ideas.”
In addition to on-going education, Allie is an award-winning artist. She received the Impressionist Award of Excellence in 2021 at the Oil Painters of America (OPA) Western Regional Exhibition. She received awards two consecutive years in a row with the American Impressionist Society’s (AIS) Small Works Showcase. In 2021 she received first place at the Wet Wall Competition in South Carolina, and in 2022 received an Honorable Mention in the Toas, New Mexico exhibition. Allie is now a signature member of the AIS -an accomplishment achieved by only 14% of its entire membership.
On an every day occasion, Allie can be spotted painting the landscape in and around the Treasure Valley. “The richness of painting from life, whether in the studio or outdoors, is where I find myself as an artist.”
Allie currently resides with her husband and young children in Meridian, ID.

Micah is a scholar of European, Asian, and American fine art, porcelain, and decorative objects. He earned his doctorate in the History of Art from University College London, where he travelled throughout Spain, Italy, France, and United Kingdom to study how artists were trained in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. He received his Masters in Fine Art from Sotheby’s Institute (London). There he worked with the founder of the Antiques Home Roadshow and other experts in the London auction world. Micah has lectured extensively, including at the British Library. He is currently a partner at Anthony’s Fine Art & Antiques (Salt Lake City) and a Board Member of the Springville Museum of Art. He regularly lectures on continues to lecture, write, and consult with public institutions and private collectors. He is a co-author of the Dictionary of Utah Fine Artists. Micah currently sits on the Advisory Board of PleinAir Magazine.

About the Artist
Australian artist, Paul Newton has works in the permanent collections of the Australian National Portrait Gallery (six works), Parliament House Canberra, Princeton, Johns Hopkins and Columbia Universities, the National Basketball Association, the Cleveland Clinic, The Temple Emanu-El New York, Credit Suisse First Boston, Morgan Stanley New York and numerous other collections worldwide. His portrait sitters have included Kylie Minogue, NBA Commissioner David Stern, White House Chief Economics Advisor Steve Friedman, writer Bryce Courtenay, radio broadcaster Alan Jones AO, Rugby legend David Campese, Governor General Sir William Deane AC KBE, former Prime Minister Bob Hawke, former Westpac CEO Gail Kelly and ABC Chairman Donald McDonald AC.
Newton has been a finalist in the prestigious Archibald Prize competition on twelve occasions, with portraits of such notables as David Gonski AC, Frank Lowy AC, Maggie Tabberer, John Laws, Patrick Corrigan, Fred Street AM, Donald McDonald AC, Rupert Myer AO and Kate Fischer. His 2001 entry, a portrait of Sydney Olympic Games commentators Roy and HG, won The Peoples Choice Awards in Melbourne and Sydney as well as the Packers Prize. His portrait of arts benefactor Pat Corrigan, a finalist in the 2006 Archibald competition, was acquired for the Australian National Portrait Gallery's collection. Likewise his portraits of David Gonski and Frank Lowy form part of the permanent collection of the Australian National Portrait Gallery.
Newton was a finalist in the American Society of Portrait Artists 2001 International Portrait Competition, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and his portrait of David Campese won First Place in the 2002 Portrait Society of America International Portrait Competition, in Philadelphia. Newton won First Place in the same competition in Washington DC the following year.
In 2010 Newton was commissioned to paint 32 pictures for the interior of the Domus Australia Chapel in Rome, Italy. Among the 32 works is a portrait of Australia's first canonised saint, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, and a new depiction of Our Lady of the Southern Cross. An earlier painting of Our Lady of the Southern Cross was commissioned for World Youth Day and it hangs in St Marys Cathedral, Sydney, where it was blessed in 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI.
